Services
I provide training, facilitation, coaching and research support in Theory of Change, participatory research and implementation research. I tailor my services to the needs of each team or project and can work online, in person or in a hybrid format.
Training
I offer online courses in Theory of Change for Health and Social Care, as well as tailored training for research teams, universities, research institutes, government agencies and non-government organisations.
Training can range from a short introductory session to a series of practical workshops. Sessions can include opportunities for participants to apply what they are learning to their own projects and receive feedback.
Facilitation
I facilitate in-person, online and hybrid Theory of Change workshops for research projects, programmes, services and organisations.
I work with teams to clarify the purpose and scope of the Theory of Change, identify who should be involved and develop workshop activities that encourage meaningful participation.
My support can include:
- Planning and preparing for the workshop
- Developing the workshop agenda and materials
- Identifying participants
- Facilitating workshop discussions and activities
- Developing the Theory of Change map
- Documenting assumptions, evidence and contextual factors
- Refining and finalising the Theory of Change
I have experience working with researchers, practitioners, programme teams, policymakers, community representatives and people with lived experience.
Coaching
I support individuals and teams who want to develop and facilitate their own Theory of Change workshops.
Coaching can include reviewing workshop plans and materials, advising on participatory activities, helping facilitators prepare for potential challenges, observing workshops and providing feedback, and supporting teams to refine their Theory of Change afterwards.
Support can be provided through a single consultation or through a series of sessions before, during and after the workshop process.
Research
I work with research teams to integrate Theory of Change throughout the research process, from the initial development of a research proposal through to implementation, evaluation and publication.
This can include support with
- Research and evaluation design
- Participatory Theory of Change workshops
- Developing outcomes, indicators and data collection plans
- Academic writing and publication
I also provide methodological support in participatory research, co-design, implementation research and process evaluation.
Tailored support
Every project has different needs. My support can range from a single consultation or training session to a facilitated workshop or longer-term collaboration across the life of a project.
Our team worked with Erica Breuer to plan, implement and interpret a Theory of Change workshop in the process of supporting the establishment of a public health training program in Solomon Islands. When it came to planning and implementing the Theory of Change workshop, Erica lent her expertise to ensure that the process yielded the outcomes our partners required. Her attention to detail was remarkable – from seating arrangements, through to mapping the workshop discussions together so that a comprehensive but digestible pathway could be presented to the stakeholders involved. Erica was with us from start to finish, and we still catch up to discuss how the Theory of Change developed more than two years continues to guide the training program. We loved working with Erica and can’t speak of her highly enough!
